Title:
L&N-MP Transfer Run (2)
Description:
Missouri Pacific GP38-2 869, along with GP35's 603 and 639, lead a transfer run from the Louisville & Nashville's Gentilly Yard into the MP's Race Street Yard. The structure above the train is the Greater New Orleans Mississippi River Bridge at Thalia Street, and the building at the far end of the yard is a transit shed along the Mississippi River. An L&N crew has brought the train from Gentilly, and will get off here. Race Street Yard closed shortly before the 1984 World's Fair, and the land became the primary parking lot for that event.
