Title:
CEI 4-4-2 #216 - Chicago & Eastern Illinois
Description:
Although a G7 would wear #216 later for the C&EI, this was the first. Built by Baldwin in 1905 and identified as a E2a class, it was originally #321 but renumbered to #216 in 1911. The Atlantic type loco had tall 78" drivers, developed 200 psi boiler pressure to deliver to its 21"x26" cylinders. Its engine weight was 185,400 lb and it could produce a tractive effort of 24,990 lb. James Bowie photo
